A fork in the middle of the road

I am going to get straight to the point.

As I write this, I am somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 pounds give or take.  I will weight myself tomorrow morning as well as all my inches around and post them on here as well.  I have always wanted to write a book or share my story, but so far I have been unable to create or finish my story.  I always have a good beginning, and in my head I know what I want the end to look like.

It's the middle that give me the trouble.

I am not going to sit here and hash out old stuff or tell you about all my problems right at the beginning.  Trust me I have plenty and eventually I will probably get to some if not all of the ones i know about through this journey, but at the beginning is not the time.

I do want to set out my goals.  They will be broken down into 3 categories:

  1. Now Goals:  Now goals constitute anything in the next week.  My goal is to have 3 Now Goals to put up every week so that i can come back and check them off as I get them completed.  These hopefully should be small things that I can physically do (with some push) so that i can have those small "accomplishments" we talk of.
  2. Close Goals:  Close goals represent to me goals that are "close" but yet are not of the one or two week variety.  This could be a milestone weight loss, or halfway through or anything like that.
  3. THE GOAL:  THE GOAL will always be capitalized.  THE GOAL is my personal goal of when I close my eyes what do I see, what do I smell like, what kinds of things do I do.  THE GOAL might become a "close goal" or even a "Now Goal" but it will always be my THE GOAL, until I get there and reevaluate.
Working backwards from THE GOAL to Now Goals, I need to set it up for me, and you the reader.

  • THE GOAL- THE GOAL is to be 199 pounds.  Normally I would say 200, But to be honest after working as hard as I can for 100 pounds off my body, and getting down all that far, I want to see a "1" in the first column, albeit it may only be a little while.  In addition, I want the following things from THE GOAL
    • Size 34-36 pants.  Look, I will be honest, I have no idea what my pant size will be when I get to THE GOAL, but I have to assume that it will be something like that.
    • I want to wear size large tops.  I want XL tope to look baggy on me!
    • I want to run a marathon in under 5 hours.  I want to compete and complete one of those MS 150 bike rides from Houston to Austin or from San Antonio to Corpus Christi
    • I want to go Back-packing with my wife for 3-4 days in the "wilderness" and I want to hike though and "become one with nature" (I will venture more on this later)
    • I want to go Kayaking with my wife on Lake Travis
    • I want my blood pressure to go down to "normal" levels
Tomorrow I will post all my numbers and weight and measurements as well as my plan of attack because let's be honest: everyone needs a plan of attack!

Oh yeah, there is one timeline that I refuse to change from.  My goal to lose 100 pounds is just 5 months.  Starting today, May, 8, 2013,
*my ending timeline will be October 8, 2013*
I do not claim to be an artist or anything like that but I want something to be able to look at so I can see what THE GOAL looks like on paper.  I created my dreamboard and I hope that you guys do something like this for you as well...
